ROAD CLOSURES

The Village of Flossmoor will experience a  series of rolling road closures Saturday September 7, 2024 during the running of the Hidden Gem Half Marathon.

 

There will be a period of “Soft” closures and then “Hard” closures when runners enter each neighborhood.  These hard closures will vary by neighborhood and are unlikely to last longer than 1 hour in most neighborhoods.

DESIGNATED DETOURS

The following streets will remain open throughout the race and should be used as alternative routes.

  • 183rd Street

  • Dixie Highway

  • Crawford / Pulaski

  • Vollmer Road

MAIN ROAD CLOSURES

  • Kedzie (Flossmoor Rd to 193rd) 7:00 - 9:30 AM

  • Governors Hwy (Heather- Flossmoor Rd) 7:00 - 9:45 AM

  • Flossmoor Rd (West of Governors) 7:00 - 9:45 AM

  • Flossmoor Rd (East of Governors) 7:00 - 12:00 PM

FLOSSMOOR ROAD CLOSURE

Flossmoor Road between Western Ave and Governors Highway will experience slightly longer hard closures — 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM

 

WESTERN AVENUE CLOSURE

Western Ave will be closed in both directions from Vardon Lane to Flossmoor Road from 7:00 - 11:15 AM — Northbound traffic on Western Ave will be allowed to turn right (east) at Flossmoor Rd. 

GARBAGE PICK UP

If your garbage is usually picked up on Friday, it will still be picked up on Friday, September 8th, despite the holiday week (Homewood Disposal and Republic).

NEIGHBORHOOD CLOSURES

There will be a period of “SOFT” closures and then “HARD” closures when runners enter each neighborhood. These hard closures will vary by neighborhood and are unlikely to last longer than 1 hour in most neighborhoods.

Baythorne — 7:30 - 8:15 AM

Ballantrae — 7:30 - 9:00 AM

Flossmoor Hills — 7:30 - 9:15 AM

Braemar Rd — 7:45 - 9:45 AM

Heather Hill— 7:30- 10:30 AM

Flossmoor Estates— 8:00 - 10:45 AM

Flossmoor Park— 8:15 - 11:15 AM

Old Flossmoor— 8:30 - 11:30 AM

The Village of Flossmoor Police have also agreed to waive the no overnight parking ban if you need to park a car near your home and off the route to get out in the morning, we encourage you to do so.
